Upper Deck has announced plans for its National Hockey Card Day despite a shortened NHL season.  Free hockey cards will be given away at card shops throughout the United States and Canada.  This years’ even is scheduled to take place February 9th in Canada and the 16th in the U.S.

After announcing cancellations to three of its hockey products, Upper Deck wants to make sure hockey fans visit their hobby shops to pick up cards from these 16-card sets. “The only thing better than Upper Deck NHL cards is FREE Upper Deck NHL cards,” said Chris Carlin, Upper Deck’s sports marketing & social media manager. “All fans have to do is drop in on a participating shop that day to receive a FREE National Hockey Card Day pack that feature some of the top stars in the NHL!”

There are five cards in each pack, but the U.S. and Canada both have special cards that can be obtained from dealers with a gift with purchase. More details on the events taking place can be found on the National Hockey Card Day Facebook page.
