At 12:00pm CST Panini will open the floodgates to a first-of-its-kind auction of historic proportions. Panini will be auctioning off ten (10) pylon-colored, one-of-a-kind Prizm cards per day for thirty (30) days. That”s 300 one-of-ones, each encased in its own magnetic one-touch and each coming in its own special box. Considering the popularity of the Prizm brand this year (in basketball and football) and the success of one of the greatest rookie classes of all-time, this is an extremely exciting opportunity to own a piece of a set that may never come around again.
I have no idea what the prices will end up at for some of these cards. I would love to have an Alfred Morris, Josh Gordon, RGIII, Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck, or any number of other cards from this glorious set. I have saved up some money by selling over $400 worth of PC cards. Time will tell if that”s enough to score me one of these gems, but I am guessing I will have to pass on a lot of opportunities since they are only selling ten per day. If I want to bid on the RGIII, I will probablyy have to sit on my wallet until the final week.

We are now officially done with the first three days of the Panini Pylon auctions, so I”ll share a few of my thoughts on this promotion so far. First of all, it is pretty clear that this is a popular set. Veteran base cards are going for over $100 and superstars like Peyton and Rodgers are getting near or surpassing $300. One HUGE difference between this auction and eBay is the fact that whatever number you bid, is your bid. It appears obvious that in some cases, bidders are placing a much higher bid than they think they”ll need, just in case somebody tries to snipe them. But there is no sniping in this auction. My mistake cost me $15 bucks, but even though I suspected sniping wasn”t possible I wanted to be a little safe so I bid $150 on a $133 auction. Take a look at the James Harrison auction and you”ll see the bid was only at $46.44 before wheeler281 decided to throw down his massive bid of $225. In all likelihood, a bid of $50-60 would have won it. Maybe a bid of $48 would have won it. But bidders should take note: Bid in small increments and bid often. Sniping is only possible if done manually, so it”s not too likely unless the bid is for a superstar.
Note: If you win an auction, plan to pay for tax and shipping. On my $150 auction I paid $13.15 on tax and $9.29 on shipping (the cheapest method) casino spiele online for a total of $22.44 over my initial bid.
UPDATE: Blowoutcards member (and BustingPacks regular) Zonacats posted the above paragraph on the message boards and it definitely stirred some people up. Fortunately, the gentleman I referenced in the James Harrison example (above) joined in on the conversation and updated us on his bid:
