How To: Redeem a missing hit from Topps

This site uses eBay affiliate links in posts. By purchasing items from these links the site may earn money at no additional cost to you.

So you just purchased your box of sports cards and you’re ripping through the packs and then it happens; you opened your last pack and you suddenly realize you never got your hit.  Truth be told- most of the inserts you see are not guaranteed.  You’re playing the odds and sometimes, no most of the time, the odds are against you.

On most circumstances though, you should expect the hits listed on the top of the box, ” Look for one autograph or one relic card in every box.”   That’s what is says on the top of the 2013 Topps Series One baseball box and that’s what I was hoping to get. Well- it happened- I didn’t get the hit out of one of the boxes I purchased.  It’s not the first time this has happened, and I’ve had really good experience in the past with getting missing hits replaced, so I wanted to let you know what to do if this happens to you.

More information about Topps customer service can be found on their website.

Panini America has a similar page and that can be located here.

There are two options for contacting Topps about missing hits. The first way is to mail in your wrappers, empty box and letter of explanation to their customer service address:

This should be sent to:

The Topps Company, Inc.
ATTN: Consumer Relations
401 York Ave.
Duryea, PA 18642
ATTN: Consumer Relations

Or the easier way is to take pictures of the receipt of the box and the bottom of the box that was missing a hit.  You need to make sure to ‘X’ out the barcode or simply punch a hole on the bottom.  The next step is to convert those picture files to .PDF files and along with your name and address send them to [email protected] .

I’ve had 100% success rate on this process, but remember- you’re getting a random hit like you would be getting out of the box itself, so don’t expect the 1/1, or the top autograph.  You should expect to get what you pay for, and remember nothing is perfect and accidents happen.

Just remember to have fun collecting!
